If you’ve ever stocked INK MEETS PAPER® cards, you know the envelope is more than just packaging— it’s part of the experience. Since 2013, our signature envelope has been a defining element of our brand, adding a tactile, thoughtful finish to every card. And now, after months of development and countless prototypes, we’re thrilled to introduce our newest evolution: the 2025 Signature Envelope in Carolina Clay!

We started this process not to reinvent the envelope, but to refine it. We loved our original envelope, from the iconic shape to the bold seams and hidden interior message, but we also knew we could improve on its production and functionality.

This latest iteration was the result of months of design, trial, and testing. Our signature envelopes are surprisingly complex: they’re printed on both sides, die cut, and then converted (and our previous design’s tight registration made production tricky and prone to alignment issues). We worked closely with our manufacturer to adjust the design without compromising the things we love most. 

The first thing you’ll notice is the new color. We’ve named it Carolina Clay, a nod to the earthy tones of upstate South Carolina where our studio lives. It’s warm and grounding, with enough vibrancy to make a statement… yet versatile enough to complement every single card in our collection.

Switching to a lighter flecked paper stock opened the door to color possibilities beyond what pre-colored papers allow. The result? A beautifully neutral hue that feels fresh, grounded, and just a little unexpected.

We also refreshed the interior of the envelope with a hand-drawn squiggle pattern. It adds a subtle dash of modern playfulness and also functions as a security liner, helping conceal the contents inside. The result is an envelope that is as thoughtful inside as it is outside. And, of course, we couldn’t leave out the hidden message: Text less. Write more.®

This is more than just an envelope refresh. It’s a love letter to the process, a commitment to craftsmanship, and another way our cards stand out on your shop shelves.
